Nick Pope is a British author, journalist, and television personality renowned for his work in the field of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP). Born in 1965, he joined the British Government’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) in 1985, where he held various positions over a 21-year career. From 1991 to 1994, Pope was assigned to Secretariat (Air Staff) Sec (AS) 2a, commonly referred to as the “UFO desk.” In this role, he was responsible for investigating reports of UFO sightings to assess any potential defense significance.
During his tenure at the MoD, Pope analyzed numerous UFO reports, distinguishing between those with conventional explanations and a smaller number that remained unexplained. His work led him to advocate for a more in-depth scientific investigation into UAPs. After leaving the MoD in 2006, Pope continued his research and became a prominent media commentator on UFO-related topics. He has authored several books, including “Open Skies, Closed Minds,” which provides an overview of his experiences and insights into the UFO phenomenon. Pope’s expertise has made him a sought-after speaker at conferences and a consultant for various media productions exploring the unexplained.
